Airway Orthodontics: Healthier Children with Beautiful Faces and Smiles

May 21, 2019 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

Airway Centric® Orthodontics offers a treatment path beyond a straighter, even smile. Learn what can be done for your current patients and those seeking care for airway /sleep problems, as screening for these disorders becomes the standard of care.
Dr Jill Meyer will discuss the effect of airway and oral posture on facial growth and occlusion. She will show orthotropic® and orthodontic cases where a multi-disciplinary approach improved the airway and created beautiful, healthy faces and smiles.

Dr Jill Meyer graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Human Development. She went on to earn a DDS degree from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and completed a General Practice Residency program at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where she trained in all aspects of dentistry.  Dr. Meyer has completed the International Association of Orthodontics two year mini-residency program, the Biobloc Orthotropic® mini-residency, and over 1000 credit hours in continuing education in orthodontics.

At the Hindin Center, Dr. Meyer practices family dentistry with a focus on pediatric care and Airway Centric Orthodontics / Orthotropics®. She is one of only a few dentists locally working in the field of Orthotropics® (or Facial Growth Guidance). This is a treatment that redirects growth of the mid and lower face to a more ideal direction, converting “unfavorable” vertical growth to “favorable” horizontal growth. Dr. Meyer is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, International Association of Orthodontics, North American Association of Facial Orthotropics, and American Academy of Gnathalogical Orthopedics.

She is a board member and marketing director of the International Association of Orthodontics, New England chapter, and founding board member of the North American Association of Facial Orthotropics. She lectures on pediatric dental health, facial growth, and orthodontics. Dr. Meyer has been involved in numerous community organizations including the Health and Wellness Committee for the Nyack School District, PTA, Inspire Nyack Foundation, pro bono dental screenings in Nyack schools, and treating the elderly at the Rudolph Steiner Fellowship Community in Chestnut Ridge, NY.
