Airway Orthodontics: The Present State and Future Considerations

December 17, 2019 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST

Dr. Barry Raphael, DDS

Orthodontic treatment can influence growth and development of the face and jaws as well as the airway. Dr. Raphael, conventionally trained in the specialty of orthodontics, discovered the importance of airway and changed his practice and became a missionary for the importance of airway in orthodontics. Even with current knowledge and research, the orthodontic community has not embraced this movement. Dr. Raphael will address the current state of orthodontic treatment and what the future will hopefully bring.

Barry Raphael, DDS, is an orthodontist practicing in Clifton, NJ for over 30 years. He is the founder and director of the Center for Integrative Education. Conventionally trained, his introduction to airway-focused orthodontics dramatically changed the philosophy and nature of his practice. He is one of the most passionate and articulate educators and proponents of the importance of airway on health, dentistry and orthodontics.
Barry is a committee chairman of the ADA Task Force for Children’s Dental Health, Director of the Airway and Facial Development Collaborative and the Airway Mini-Residency. He also has been a driving force in the development of the Foundation for Airway Health White Flag Events.
