BioIntelligent DentistryTM – Modeling the Biological Mechanisms of Phytocannabinoids in Dental Health and Disease©‬‬ – David L. Cooper, MD and Carl Magyar, DDS

June 16 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

Dentistry has a historic reliance on the application of industrial chemicals classified as antiseptics and now quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) and pharmaceuticals to treat oral disease. This treatment legacy- “kill everything”- contrasts with constructing new products based on a science-based understanding of biological mechanisms important in managing dental health and disease.

The focus of this webinar is to elucidate the multiple molecular underpinnings exploited in development of new, natural plant-based treatment approaches for the dental operatory. This begins with understanding the hemp plant’s evolutionarily conserved biological activities to maintain the capabilities of man’s oral microbiome to manage and improve oral health naturally. Products designed to support biologically evolved pathways – microbial, cellular and systemically –  are presented with proven effectiveness in both the generalist and specialist’s operatories.

Modeling the Biological Mechanisms of Phytocannabinoids in Dental Health and Disease is the first step in the paradigm shift towards the practice of BioIntelligent DentistryTM. This advancement portends to an era of closer collaborative patient management between Dentists, Physicians and across the total spectrum of health care providers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Contrast and compare the effects of traditional mouthwash antiseptics and phytocannabinoid rinses on the oral microbiome.

2. Understand the various biological responses elicited by the major cannabinoids on the oral microbiome’s defense against pathogens.

3. Recognize multiple treatment success utilizing phytocannabinoid formulations in the dental generalist and specialist’s operatories.

DAVID L. COOPER, PHD, MD + Chief Executive Officer, PhytoDental Solutions, Inc. is an internationally recognized physician/scientist with 35+ years of professional experience. As the founder and first president of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP), he contributed to the professional development and recognition of the subdiscipline of Molecular Pathology and Genetics. Executive work as CSO Quest Diagnostics and the Nichols Institute and as Founding Editor of the Journal of Molecular Diagnosis, he promoted commercialization of molecular diagnosis globally. Awards include the Litchfield Lectureship for Leadership in Molecular Medicine, Oxford University. Most recently Dr. Cooper has devoted his efforts to a better understanding of phytocannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system’s role in health and disease. Designing empiric data generating safe, efficacious and cost-efficient IRB approved clinical studies is the focus of his ongoing activities as CEO of PhytoDental Solutions, Inc.

CARL W. MAGYAR, DDS; Chief Dental Officer, Phytodental Solutions, Inc.; Director, Magyar Institute for BioIntelligent Dentistry has maintained a focus on complex implant-related treatment planning and restoration, with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the College of Dentistry, Ohio State University. In addition, Dr. Magyar has been and continues to be directly involved in the innovation of procedures, dental materials and dental products. He is an experienced clinical researcher, clinical educator and completed clinical trials. Magyar has co-authored a number of articles relating to dental materials. He is a Diplomat of the International College of Oral Implantologists, Fellow of the American Society of Osseointegration and the American Dental Association. He has served as a teaching faculty member of the Pikos Institute for over 20 years.
