Snoring and Sleep Difficulties in Children – Not Always OSA
Jim Papadopoulos, MBBS, Dip. Paed. FRACP

June 13, 2022 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

Learning objectives

  1. Understand the health burden of snoring and sleep difficulties in children
  2. Understand the symptoms, signs and tests which help us evaluate snoring and sleep difficulties in children
  3. Understand the importance of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of snoring and sleep difficulties in children

Disordered sleep affects 30% of children, harming mood, behaviour and cognition – potentially irreversibly.  Snoring is associated with adverse dentofacial outcomes but does not automatically mean Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).  In fact around 10% of children snore but only 1/3 have OSA.    What about the other 2/3?  Implications for real-world practice?
