US Army’s Dental Sleep Initiative, and How You Can Help

Former Army Captain, Dr. Michael Pagano, DDS will give you an inside perspective on the US Army’s Dental Sleep Medicine Initiative. Come learn essential intel about military culture and the Army’s approach to dental education. Find out how a military mindset can help you focus your practice in the direction you want to take it. Dr. Pagano will discuss the current status of Dental Sleep Medicine in the US Army as well as share ways you can help Active Duty Soldiers and veterans in your practice. 

Dr. Pagano graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry with a full scholarship through the US Army Health Professions Scholarship Program. Dr. Pagano completed the Army’s Dental Sleep Medicine Short Course at Joint Base San Antonio, TX. He established the Dental Sleep Medicine Program at Fort Riley, KS integrating it into a multidisciplinary healthcare team. He was an instructor at the Army’s Dental Sleep Medicine Short Courses at Fort Gordon, GA; Fort Hood, TX; and Fort Bliss, TX. Dr. Pagano has presented at the Greater New York Dental Meeting Sleep Apnea Symposium, 21st Century Sleep Seminars Round Table 8, and will be speaking at the ADA annual conference later this year. Dr. Pagano enjoys teaching dentists new to Dental Sleep Medicine and loves to share his experience with the United States Army.

Dr. Pagano has recently left the Army to join Dr. Erika Mason at Sleep Better Virginia. The dedicated dental sleep medicine practice utilizes the latest technologies including CBCT, digital workflow utilizing intraoral scanners, and the Matrx system used to help predict the success of oral appliance therapy. Dr. Pagano’s passion is educating dentists in the field of Dental Sleep Medicine as well as integrating new technologies into the field.
