Wake Up Your Practice: An implementable System for Airway Management
Steven Acker, DDS

June 17 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

Airway disorders and sleep disordered breathing are at epidemic proportions in our country and throughout the industrialized world.  We are in a unique position to identify patients at risk and manage them within our individual scopes of practice.

This webinar will introduce a system to manage these patients and go into some detail on the screening process.  We have devised some simple documentation to perform the clinical screening paired with questionnaires that can be obtained with the input data from each patient.

Dr. Steven Acker founded Elite Dental of Staten Island in 1989, a health and wellness based practice that is focused on airway health and total body wellness.  He has also lectured extensively and has served as an Attending Doctor at The Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY since 1982. Dr. Acker is a Clinical Instructor, Scientific Advisor on Airway, and a past Advisory Board member at the prestigious Kois Center for Clinical Excellence in Seattle, WA.  He studied under Dr. John Kois, one of the foremost dental educators in the world.

He has created and teaches a 3-day course at the Kois Center titled “Dental Management of the Airway Compromised Patient: A New Perspective. He is also a Graduate of the Misch Dental Implant Institute. Dr. Acker also serves as a Board Member of the Pediatric and Adult Airway Network of New York (PAANNY) to provide a local platform where dentists, physicians, orofacial myologists, and other related professionals learn and collaborate on treatment patients of all ages.

Dr. Acker is a member of the AAPMD, the Wellness Dentistry Network and the American Dental Association.

He has a passion for the science and art of dentistry and believes that dentistry has a major role in the overall wellness and health of our patients. His commitment to the health and wellness of his patients is what keeps him staying at the forefront of professional developments.

Dr. Acker believes that airway-focused dentists should be the quarterback of an interdisciplinary group of physicians, dentists and other allied health professionals that understand the structure, function and behavior of the airway and breathing of our patients. Dr. Acker lectures in the United States and internationally on airway related care for dentists and allied health professionals.
