85% of patients suffering with a “hidden” airway problem are not being recognized. Many do not know that their airway and quality of their sleep impacts their health, performance, learning and development. It is not something that will be “grown out of”. Dr. Harrell has developed a system of for recognizing the biomarkers of airway issues using 3D photos and CBCTs. Both practitioner and the public can become more aware of the presence of these biomarkers leading to earlier care. In this presentation he will share information about his exciting novel technique.
Dr. William (Bill) Harrell graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, AL in 1975 and completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1977. He is in private orthodontic practice in Alexander City, Alabama. He is a Board Certified Orthodontist (ABO) in 1989 in also certified in Dental Sleep Medicine. He worked with the late TMJ pioneer, Dr. Bill Farrar and oral surgeon Dr. Bill McCarty in Montgomery, AL on the diagnosis and management of TMJ Disorders.
Dr Harrell has served as Vice-Pres and President of the Alabama Association of Orthodontists, as the Sect-Treasurer, VP, & President of the 9th District Dental Society of Alabama and served on The Board of Trustees and in the House of Delegates of the Alabama Dental Association. He has also served on various committees of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Harrell is the first orthodontic private practice in the USA to have both ConeBeam CT (CBCT) and 3D facial imaging (3dMD) in early 2005. Dr. Harrell’s practice focuses on airway centered orthodontic diagnosis and treatment and TMJ Disorders. He is a national & international lecturer on the topic of early orthodontic treatment and its relationship to airway issues in children, 3D imaging (CBCT, 3D facial imaging, 3D Intraoral Imaging), TMJ Disorders and diagnostics & management of Sleep Disordered Breathing & Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
