Kevin S. Adair, DDS, MSD
Dr. Adair received his DDS degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry. After practicing General Dentistry for nine years in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego, he returned to school for his Certificate in Orthodontics. Presently, Dr. Adair practices an airway-focused approach to orthodontics at two different locations in northern California: Fairfield and Rocklin.
This airway-focused journey was started by Dr. Adair when he was a general dentist. Observing that his patients were not progressing well, he took it upon himself to increase his understanding of orthodontic treatments and philosophies. When he recognized this area as his passion, he sold his general dental practice to enroll in a residency for a Masters Degree in the specialty of Orthodontics, so that he could provide these benefits to more patients. As an early adopter of airway focused treatment, he started utilizing non-extraction orthodontic techniques in 1999 and a more focused treatment involving airway and health soon after.
Dr. Adair has been fortunate to conduct research at all levels of his schooling from: undergraduate research at the University of California at Davis (UCD), at dental school at UCSF, at the residency program at University of the Pacific (UOP), at private practice and even in the pharmaceutical industry, where he worked during summer breaks.
He has had multiple publications at each level. This background of research has continued to help shape his treatments as it is steeped in the scientific approach. Also, Dr. Adair was honored to teach at UOP for three years as a clinical instructor.
Dr. Adair has been active in multiple organizations. He was President of the North American Association of Facial Orthotropics (NAAFO). He has been a board member with the Academy of Airway and Gnathologic Orthopedics (AAGO). In addition he is a member for American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), California Dental Association (CDA), Napa Solano Dental Society (NPSD)and member and past speaker for AAPMD.
In 2018, Dr. Adair was also a co-founder of an airway focused study club called Team Airway Study Club. This is a collaborative organization that has an inclusive philosophy and is home to a variety of health-care providers – from MDs and Dentists, as well as to PTs, to Myo-Therapists, and to other health-care professionals. The goal is to help patients attain the best outcomes by utilizing multiple providers at the optimal times.
