He’s completed UCLA’s Mini-Residency in Sleep and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Carstensen lectures internationally, directs sleep education at the Pankey Institute and is the leader of the ADA’s Children’s Airway initiative and Consultant for Sleep Related Breathing Disorders.
Since 2014 he has been Chief Dental Editor of Dental Sleep Practice Magazine. In 2025, Quintessence published the second edition of A Clinician’s Handbook for Dental Sleep Medicine, written with a co-author.
