A New Treatment Approach: The Role of Phytocannabinoids in Precision Dentistry
David Cooper, PhD, MD
September 27 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT
For centuries the medicinal effects of phyto-cannabinoids have been studied. Recently the anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and wound healing potential of the cannabis plant has been the focus. However, little forthcoming as to the why and how plant extracts work in man. This talk will propose potential molecular answers to those questions.
- Understand how phytocannabinoid properties align with oral pathologies.
- Describe the anti-microbial molecular mechanisms utilized by components of the oral and multi-systemic microbiomes to maintain homeostasis.
- Recognize how the interaction of two major classes of molecules may lead to the controversial “Entourage Effect.”
David Cooper, PhD, MD-Dr. Cooper’s 35-year career includes startups to Fortune 500 companies in biotechnology, informatics, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals. While Professor of Molecular Pathology at Duke and UPMC, he authored more than 100 manuscripts including publications in Nature Medicine, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, and the Journal of Cell Biology. Dr. Cooper was Founder and first President of the Association of Molecular Pathology (AMP) and Founding Editor, Journal of Molecular Diagnosis.
His effort with Phytodental Solutions is on developing the first Phytocannabinoid based Precision Dentistry Formulary offering “multiple products, across multiple indications and specialties.”
