Kim Hutchison, MD, FAASM, is an associate professor of neurology and sleep medicine at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR. Dr. Hutchison earned her M.D. from the University of Kansas and completed her internship and her residency in Neurology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed a fellowship in sleep disorders medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, where she spent 5 years seeing patients and studying the effects of sleep deprivation on the brain using functional imaging (fMRI). Kim moved to Portland in 2011 where she joined the faculty at OHSU and combines clinical practice with teaching and exploring her research interests. Named one of “Portland’s Top Docs” for 2014, Dr. Hutchison is passionate about improving the patient experience through innovative treatments and scientifically-backed education. Besides her work at OHSU, Dr. Hutchison has maintained a remote neurology and sleep medicine clinic on the medically underserved island of Saipan in the Pacific. Outside of medicine, Kim spends most of her time parenting two teens and breeding Golden Retrievers. “Do good and enjoy what you do” is her motto.
