John H. Tucker, D.M.D., has maintained a private practice in Erie, Pennsylvania since 1982. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine; and he has completed the Boston Seminars in Implant Dentistry with Dr. Paul Schnitman, the University of Buffalo Esthetic Dentistry Program, all levels of the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, and the University of Buffalo Patient Mastery Program. In 2005, he was awarded a Certificate of Proficiency in Esthetic Dentistry from the University of Buffalo.
He is a Member of the American College of Oral Implantology, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
He is also a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration. Dr. Tucker has Mastership status in the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics and a Fellowship in the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics.
He has lectured nationwide regarding dental implants and prosthetics and published numerous articles. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant for Dentsply, ESPE, Kerr, Henry Schein, Nierman Practice Management, Pristine Medical Billing, SleepTest.com, Vatech America, Respire Medical, Rhinomed, OSA University, and Kettenbach.
Dr. Tucker has six dental patents, including a precision attachment currently being marketed by the Preat Corporation and an impression tray, Originate™.
He has a particular interest in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. As a Diplomate of The American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and The American Board of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry, he is exceptionally qualified to manage this severe problem with Oral Appliance Therapy. Dr. Tucker was named one of the Best Sleep Doctors in 2012 & 2013 by the Sleep Review Journals for Sleep Specialists. Actively treating patients in the Tri-State Erie area for fifteen years, Dr. Tucker works directly with sleep physicians and sleep centers to ensure that his patients receive the most favorable treatment outcome possible. In 2021, he was the first dentist to be credentialed by Inspire Medical Systems regarding Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation. Dr. Tucker was appointed an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in February 2022, and he will be educating the Graduate Prosthodontic Residents in managing Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders.
He founded Erie Dental Sleep Therapy, LLC in 2007. Erie Dental Sleep Therapy, LLC became the eighth AADSM Accredited facility in June 2012. Erie Dental Sleep Therapy, LLC was named one of the Best Sleep Facilities in 2012 by the Sleep Review Journals for Sleep Specialists.
Dr. Tucker is passionate about educating the dental profession in treating the PAP intolerant Obstructive Sleep Apnea patients. He has presented approximately 3000 hours of continuing education on treating the PAP intolerant patients with Oral Appliance Therapy nationally and internationally. Dr. Tucker has also published numerous articles regarding Oral Appliance Therapy for OSA patients who cannot tolerate PAP therapy.
Jeffrey Hindin, DDS, is a graduate of SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and the Buffalo VAMC residency program and practices general dentistry with an emphasis on the treatment of craniofacial pain, TMD and sleep disorders. Dr. Hindin has developed a system of evaluating physiology in the medical or dental office. He is conducting clinical research into the relationship between performance, splint therapy, physiological function and heart rate variability and is the lead dentist in the Proof of Concept Study of an Oral Orthotic to Reduce Tic severity in Chronic Tic Disorder and Tourette Syndrome at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
He is a founding board member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry and the Foundation for Airway Health. Dr. Hindin recently became an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and teaches the Continuum In Sleep-Related Disorders and Health Solutions.
Jeffrey Hindin, DDS, has developed a system of instrumentation to monitor HRV and ANS balance and add a new level of understanding and care for patients with airway disorders. The HindexRV® system produces objective data on the physiological effects of altered jaw position, tooth positioning and other dental procedures. Dr. Hindin has lectured internationally on this subject and is also an instructor and expert in software development for the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe. He incorporates biofeedback modalities into patient care.
Additionally, he is active in many professional societies including Diplomate of the American Board of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry, Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and memberships in the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Academy of Pain Management, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, and Academy of Laser Dentistry.
