The use of lasers in dental practice continues to grow significantly and its uses continue to expand: from frenectomies in airway dentistry to periodontal, endodontic, and restorative care as well as other areas of oral medicine. When choosing your first laser, it is important to know what makes a good surgical laser. The Curriculum for this webinar has been developed by the American Laser Study Club (ALSC). ALSC will provide lecture note handouts, an online laser-tissue interaction knowledge exam, an option for online laser safety training and examination through the Laser Institute of America.

Dr. Peter Vitruk, PhD will provide:

  • An understanding of the fundamental processes involved in the laser-tissue interaction and helps attendees learn how the laser beam cuts and provides coagulation and hemostasis.
  • What are common misconceptions about soft tissue dental lasers and hot tip (non-laser) cautery devices such as diodes?
  • Superficial and Deep Coagulation and Hemostasis
  • Cutting Depth Control
  • Shallow and Deep Incisions
  • Post Operative Pain and Healing

Dr. Peter Vitruk was born and raised in Ukraine. He earned his PhD degree in Physics from the Moscow Physics and Technology Institute, Moscow in the late 1980s in the former USSR.
