The Art and Science of Fascial Treatment for Temporomandibular Disorders
Heather McWilliams, PT, DPT

April 16 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EDT

The objectives of this webinar will include:

  • General understanding of fascia and how to identify restrictions
  • Understand simplified, general temporomandibular joint (TMJ) anatomy
  • General understanding of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) diagnosis
  • Understand benefits of fascial release work for treatment of TMDs

Heather McWilliams, PT, DPT, has been a physical therapist for over 30 years. She holds a B.S. in biomedical engineering from Texas A&M University, a M.S. in physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University and a D.P.T. from the University of St. Augustine.  Throughout her career, Heather has studied several styles of fascial work and her clinical work has always incorporated manual fascial techniques, even during her early work in a head injury clinic.  She is an expert level John Barnes myofascial therapist and has also studied Upledger’s craniosacral therapy as well as Barral’s visceral manipulation and neural manipulation.  She is the owner of Quantum Leap Physical Therapy and Massage, a solo practice focused upon clients with complex issues, such as fibromyalgia, hypermobility syndrome, myofascial pain syndrome and complex regional pain syndrome. Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are common in these patient populations and thus Heather sees many clients with TMDs.  She is happy to share her love and interest in fascial work as it applies to the temporomandibular complex.
