Jerald H. Simmons, MD

February 12 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm EST

This webinar will cover initiatives that are currently taking place to address the deficiencies in our healthcare system, particularly in sleep medicine. Collaborative approaches between a team of clinicians will give patients a more comprehensive treatment strategy. Additionally, this presentation will report on specifics and point to additional educational opportunities that will enhance the healthcare professionals’ journey to achieve these goals.

Objectives:

  • Learn new approaches to early detection in sleep pathology
  • Understand the dentists’ role in improving cognitive performance
  • Discover how collaborative care models can enhance patients’ health by combining treatment strategies

Dr. Simmons, MD – A pioneer in Sleep Medicine since 1991, Dr. Simmons was driven to become a neurologist because of his interest in the brain’s workings. After finishing his neurology residency, he went to Stanford University for his sleep fellowship with the world-renowned Christian Guilleminault. Within the first few weeks, he became aware of the “basic truths about sleep disorders” that are pivotal and impactful on overall health. He was so bothered that he had gone through four years of medical school, an internship, and three years of neurology residency without learning these “basic truths.” It would have enhanced his ability to treat his patients if he had known. “It shouldn’t require a fellowship in sleep medicine to obtain these basic truths about sleep disorders.” He made it his mission to be part of the solution and teach healthcare professionals these “truths” to enhance patient care.
