The AAPMD is an inclusive network of like-minded healthcare professionals with diversified knowledge and expertise in detecting and treating Airway Health issues. These include Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) and related issues, that have been shown to contribute to a myriad of chronic illnesses.
Our members – general dentists, pediatric dentists and orthodontists, physicians (sleep specialists, ENT, pulmonologists, cardiologists, gastroenterologists, pediatricians, integrated medicine specialists) as well as nutritionists, physical therapists, oromyologists, and hygienists – work together to share information for the wellness of individuals, families and society. Membership is open to all healthcare practitioners interested in discovering and learning, networking and collaborating to foster optimal patient care.
Our founding practitioners have learned from the pioneers who became aware of the dental / medical connection decades ago. The AAPMD’s members share knowledge and cutting edge information and work together to offer a team approach to patients.
The aim is to attract, educate and train practitioners to diagnose and intervene with care as early as possible. Health care consumers benefit from having a database of practitioners focused on wellness, prevention and early intervention in the Airway space. To achieve this lofty goal and be an inclusive organization, members of the AAPMD understand that their practice parameters are part of a global picture. Everyone’s opinion can be freely expressed.
The AAPMD believes that all interventions should pass scientific scrutiny. Modern radiographic and physiological monitoring instrumentation as well as other laboratory tests will serve as a common language for treating practitioners.
As an AAPMD member your opinion will be respected and you will be asked to respect the opinions of others. The AAPMD acknowledges that no one discipline has all the answers. Practitioners working together will improve the chances of success for both the patient and the practitioner. In a word, the AAPMD is all about COLLABORATION!
In a nutshell what we do is collaborate. The AAPMD takes a leadership role in interdisciplinary collaboration and education. What started as a meeting has now become a global movement:
COLLABORATION CURES supports the belief that the epidemic of chronic diseases has common origins. And the best way to meet the demands and provide the best possible care is Collaboration. No one physician, no one discipline and no one philosophy can provide optimal outcomes in today’s healthcare landscape.
AAPMD is about “connecting the dots” and providing innovative ways to learn and practice. We demonstrate how dentistry and medicine can collaborate in both assessment and treatment of patients using the most advanced methods to give practitioners the edge needed to provide optimal patient care and stand out from the competition.
Partnering with other associations, the AAPMD is able to showcase how disciplines like myo-functional therapy, physical therapy, sleep specialists, ENTs, nutritionists, etc all play an important role in providing an optimal outcome for patients; and we accomplish this by:
COLLABORATION CURES AIRWAY SUMMIT – Annual 4-day Airway Summit in conjunction with our Affiliates from around the world. Unites practitioners, corporations and organizations in this growing movement. Demonstrates how multiple disciplines can collaborate to provide optimal health to patients. Featuring Keynotes, Med-talks, Workshops, Break-out Sessions and Networking Opportunities. Collaboration Cures is a “must attend event” for those beginning to incorporate airway into their practices, those wishing to expand their airway practices and organizations wishing to introduce their products, solutions and services to help these practices reach new levels of community health
FOUNDATION FOR AIRWAY HEALTH (FAH) – Our sister non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness with the general public about the role and importance of optimal airway physiology and sleep and the organizer of the annual O2 Breathe-a-Thon, each October 2
